Creating 14 new NRA certified firearm instructors
Basic Pistol instructor class is next week for these students.
Northern Chester County Sportsmen’s Club hosted an NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) class yesterday. Dan McMonigle and I led the class. We had 14 first-timers and 7 current instructors coming for a refresher. 5 of the new instructors and 3 of the returning instructors will be working as part of the Southeast PA NRA Women on Target program bringing quality instruction to local women starting out on their journey of firearms knowledge.
BIT is my favorite class to teach as it is a great way to get a very diverse (2 youth, 8 women, 13 men, 4 law enforcement, and 2 teachers in this class) instructor candidates focused on an education model that is geared to address those students that are brand new to firearms and coaching them on their presentation skills and how to calmly provide the encouragement necessary for someone handling firearms for the first time to do so safely and successfully.
